"Double" (imperial) wheat stout.
This imperial really strikes back. From a strange country far, far away, comes the only Imperial Wheat Stout in the known universe. Once again, the ’Hand’ brewery - four guys brewing in their spare time, on an absurdly small scale - boldly goes where no brewery has gone before.

Picked this up at SuperBrugsen? supermarket Denmark and consumed at home Sun 05-10-08 Pours black with brown head. This beer is quite soft in the mouth, but bitterness quite full. Not much sweetness in this at all thoguh there is some quite crude cooking chocolate in there, but this is outweighed by the coffee. Maybe I wasn’t in a drinking mood tonight as I tired of this after a while and also became a bit fed up with this breweries Dobbel Dose that I had after. Really not a bad beer, in fact fine, its just I wasn’t really in the mood for it or it just wasn’t my thing.

bottle, pours dark oily pitch black, gigantic brown head, roasted grains, coffee, charchoal, wooden fire put out by water, grill coal aroma. flavor is roasted and burnt wood and charcoal, roasted grains, faint licorice, flavors so strong they hide alc, but alc, can be sensed. afraid i have to admit that this one is too roasted for me. if there was more chocolate, more alc, more something else, it could’ve been truly great. if you like roasted go for it. most roasted/burnt flavor i ever tasted in a beer.

Batch 93, Brewed September 2007. Pours with a huge, creamy, dark brown head covering a dark black body. Thick pour. Great retention and decent lacing. Aroma of flowers, chocolate, nail polish, some dark fruits and toffee. Taste is very chocolatey up front with a bitt more coffee and bitterness towards the back (also a very slight metallic note). Very yeasty aftertaste. Thick mouthfeel.

Bottle courtesy of Plucier: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a huge dark brown foamy color head with great retention and good lacing. Aroma of dry coffee notes are dominating with some black chocolate notes as well. Taste is a mix between some dry coffee notes with some black chocolate notes a nice creamy body. Full body with some good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. I can’t say that I really tasted the wheat component and I would have guessed it contains any wheat unless it was mentioned on the label. Good beer overall but missing something to be with the great beer form the style.
