Tulip glass at Harry’s Hofbrau. Complex boozy, bourbon and deep fruit nose. Raisin. Dark brown with brown highlights. Rich malt. Bourbon. Well balanced.

Completely black pour 2 finger brown head. Pretty sticky. Cinnamon and brown sugar. Loads of vanilla on the nose. Hint of oak. Taste is very sweet. Boozy burn at the finish. Tasted like a blend of stout and barley wine. Pretty exceptional.

01/05/2013 Ma che siete venuti a fà (375ml bottle, 2009 vintage). Bruna, abbastanza densa, quasi impenetrabile, schiuma virtualmente assente. Al naso sentori di caramello, toffee e tostato, ossidazione, vaniglia e altri sentori di botte (bourbon), forte etilico. In bocca ha un attacco dolciastro, etilico, tostato, finale amaro lungo e persistente. Corpo medio-pieno, notevole nonostante i 5 anni di invecchiamento, praticamente piatta. Mi aspettavo di più.

Bottle at Hndverkerstuene, Oslo. The colour is deep brown to black and looks like oil. Has no head. Has a very complex and sweet aroma where oak, leather, licorice and liquor being the most dominant. The flavour is also complex and has a more roasted touch along with chocolate truffles, coffee, port and black currant. The mouth feel is rich and as oily as it can get. Light bitterness. A fantastic and incredibly complex ale. Best Ive tried for a long time.

From a bottle shared at home. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of dark ripe cherries with a hint of chocolate. Rich and thick mouthfeel. Flavors of raisins, toffee, ripe cherry and molasses. Boozy finish. Exceptional.

Vanilliger Antrunk, weich, harmlos. Deutlich Bourbon, mild erdig, weiter Vanille. Ebenfalls nur gering röstig, zum Ende alkoholisch. Ein merkwürdig mildes Bier. 8/11/10/9/9/10

2011 vintage. Pours a clear dark orange-brown color with a thin head that fades quickly. Aroma of whisky, roasted malts, raisin booze. The taste is booze, roasted malts, chocolate, raisin. Medium bodied. Solid beer.

Bottle, 12.7 fl oz, at Cardinal. It’s a rather flat one, without head, just some dark beige bubbles around the rim, black in color. Licorice, booze, roasted malts, dried fruits like prunes and figs, soy sauce and some umami in the aroma. The flavor is quite sweetish, with some soy sauce, licorice, booze and dried fruits. It’s full-bodied, warming and soft on the palate, with nice carbonation. Lasting finish with sweetness and lots of flavor. Some warmth. Wonderfully heavy bottle, sort of sexy... Anyway, it’s a wonderful beer. 121022

Fra flaske på Cardinaltreff mai-11: stillheten senket seg rundt bordet før jubelen brøt løs. Dette ølet MÅ jeg prøve igjen, og da lage skikkelige notater!
