Mango mead with black pepper added.
Many years ago, a mysterious book was discovered by a group of friends in a Ferndale, MI basement. A translation of its contents revealed the recipe for an ancient beverage using mango juice, honey, and black pepper. What they didn’t realize was that creating the beverage had dire consequences. Stricken by fear after its compleation, the friends tried to contain the terrifying forces into this very bottle. Once opened, however, no one can say for sure if it can be conquered. Defend your soul or join us...

Bottle. Pours clear, light yellow with a tiny fizzy white head. Aroma is honey, mango, pepper. Taste is lightly sweet with notes of honey, mango and pepper spiciness. Almost more like a cider than a mead due to very light body and high carbonation. Interesting, not going out of my way to find it again.

Pours clear, bubbly champagne gold with a minimal white head. Aroma is honey, mango. Taste is sweet honey with a slight tropical tartness.... A hint of black pepper after a bit.....pepper just keeps growing for minutes after. Excellent.

Pours slightly carbonated pear into a tulip. Bright white bubbles quickly recede to nothing. Wax lips and pepper aromas. Thin and lightly carbonated with sweet tropical fruit and honey front to back. Medium length pepper and apple finish.

My 11th B. Nektar rating, and the first one obtained in my home state. Thanks for coming to Virginia guys! Half liter bottle from Beer Run. Pours a clear pale yellow color, a wisp of fizz, weak legs. Big mango notes in the aroma along with honey, mild tannins, earth and something oddly reminiscent of an auto-repair shop. Those are some strange descriptors I just linked together, so I’ll point out that it does smell nice. The taste is tart mango and citrus, some lemongrass, green apple candy, honey, faint pepper. Medium bodied. Certainly a different mead, but fairly nice.

Bottle. Pours a clear pale yellow with no head whatsoever. Aroma is sweet with a combination of sweet honey and mango with just a hint of underlying spice. Flavor has a nice mango note that pairs well with a sweet and slightly dry honey note with a touch of spice.
