This dark beer, brewed especially for this Wetherspoon real-ale festival (March 2012), has a smoky character, imparted by using malt dried by smoke from peat, complemented by a spicy hop character, resulting in a full-flavoured, classic beer.

Cask handpull at The John Oldcastle London. clear mid amber. Lasting beige. Smokey it is. But quite overwhelming its a bit ott. Quite arresting. Bit harsh on finish. Unforgettable

Cask at the Tilly Shilling (JDW), Farnborough. Amber gold with a thin cream head; peat smoke aroma; sharp acrid wood smoke taste at first over a sweet and fruity body; the finish is dry and more peaty. A reasonably well-balanced attempt.
