A hoppy amber ale, brewed with a complex mash of Marris Otter pale malt, Rye, Caramalt, Chocolate and Wheat.

American and English hop varieties provide a delightful marmalade / citrus bitterness, well balanced by the sweetness of the malt.

Half-pint, 4.2 % abv, cask ale, shared with Finn at Cherry Red. Off-white head over a clear brownish body, spotty lacing. Rye malts and moments of caramel on the nose, promising. Brown malty flavours together with a twist of leafy hops. Bittersweet tail. Nice and food friendly. (Birmingham 13.02.2023.)

Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 9th November 2022. Coppery amber with shallow off-white foam and scant lacing. Rich caramel malt aroma with nuttiness. Hazelnut malt in-mouth and a finish to reflect. Medium to light body and an engaging texture.

Can. Buxton online shop. As Buxton Best Bitter. 4.2%. Pretty certain it’s the same beer. Fairly hazy reddy amber with a skim of white. Nose has rich malt. Bit of a rye spiciness. Nice nettle leaf like hoppage. Taste is fairly bitter with light malt sweetness. Good body with soft carbonation. Spicy bitterness to finish.

(Cask at Southampton Arms, Gospel Oak, London, 25 May 2022) Amber colour with frothy, tan head. Malty, hoppy nose with nuts, apricots, orange peel and earthy hops. Malty, fruity taste with notes of bread, caramel, apricots, orange peel and a balanced earthy bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Tasty and well made bitter. Nice one.
