The Kriek Mort Subite is brewed according to the ancestral lambic recipe. This original Belgian beer ferments spontaneously. Enriched with cherries, it matures soft and slowly in oaken casks. To be served cool.

0.375l bottle. Copper body with a thin very slightly pinkish white head. Aroma and taste of sour cherry, dark sugar, vinegar and lemon juice. Moderately sweet kriek with a restrained sourness. It’s nice, but the lambic character could be more pronounced.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 23F). Bottle 25 cl - Batch A81792219 (BBF 25-12-19). AROMA: dominated by a medium sweet artificial cherry-like AROMA. no wild fermentation notes. APPEARANCE: red color and clear. medium pink moussy head with good retention. TASTE: medium cherry-like flavor with an artificial character. low sourness. medium sweetness with a semi-sweet finish. PALATE: light body with medium-low carbonation. very low tartaric presence. OVERALL: a fruit lambic with a balance towards sweetness and with an artificial cherry character.

0.375 l bottle from ’Belgiuminabox.com’ as ’Mort Subite Original Kriek’, best before December 2011 (!), got this yesterday. Bottle opens with a very light plop. Slightly hazy, dark reddish brown with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, white head. Still quite fruity, sweetish, a bit sourish aroma of cherries, almond and some raspberries. Rather sweet, very fruity, and minimally sourish taste of cherries, raspberries, almond and dextrose, followed by a short, just slightly tart finish. Medium body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Held up quite well, still enough carbonation, interesting to try, too sweet though.

Kicsi, de tartós hab, szép rubin szín. Illata a meggy és a komló keveréke. Íze tipikus meggyel indít, édes, fanyar, savanykás. Mögötte felsejlik a komló fűszeres keserűje, és a vadélesztő is. Közepesen testes sör. Nem rossz, de van finomabb meggyes.

Quite high on the fruity sweetness, and relatively low on the sourness. But the malt body makes up where this beer is lacking elsewhere. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I am surprised there is so much dislike of this beer. Light red color. Lacing pink head. Some light earthiness with yeast. Mildly tart. Lots of cherry flavor and one of the sweeter fruit lambics. I enjoyed this.

Nice looking ruby body. Good head retention and pretty solid lacing. Very fruity aroma, with strong, pronounced cherry notes, and a little bit of a yeasty funkiness. Sour cherry taste. Some sweetness. No bitterness whatsoever. Light-to-medium feel to it. This is a very drinkable brew.
