After the ‘Zatte’, this is the oldest beer from Brouwerij ‘t IJ. Natte is classed as a ‘dubbel’, a Belgian category of smooth, dark beers. Because we partly use dark malt, Natte has a reddish-brown colour and a smooth, roasted flavour with earthy tones of brown sugar, nuts and plums. Completed with slightly bitter hops, this is a nicely balanced beer and one of the brewery’s classics.

Appearance: Very dark reddish brown. Seems clear. Some off-white head.
Aroma: Dark fruits, some malt, sweetness.
Taste: Light malt, lots of dark fruits. Caramel sweetness. Odd. Dubbel?

Bottle from a beach tent in Kijkduin. The summer of ’17. Poured a hazy medium brown with a frothy off white head. The aroma is sweet malt, toffee caramel, light fruit. The flavour is moderate sweet with a smooth, rich, sweet malt, fruity hop palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

On tap at brewpub. Hazy coppery amber color, topped with medium creamy off white head. Quite yeasty nose with some malty back. Tsste is sweet malty with caramel and some yeast in finish. Medium body with smooth feel.

Il gusto al naso va sull'orzo. L'intensità olfattiva è normale e la persistenza olfattiva è sufficiente. Il cappello di schiuma ha una discreta resistenza. La grandezza delle bollicine è medio-fine. La carbonazione è abbondante. La carbonazione è vivace e persistente. Il colore è ambrato rossiccio carico tendente marrone. Il corpo è pieno. Il dolce è medio. L'amaro è deciso. La persistenza gustativa è sufficiente. Il gusto è piacevole. Le sensazioni boccali finali sono di facile beva. Il finale è dissetante e semplice. Il retrogusto è di media intensità. L'aroma in bocca riporta sentori di caramello, miele, cereali e fiori.

Pours hazy orange/brown with a diminishing off-white head. The aroma contains malt, caramel, toffee, plum, nuts, yeast and some spices. It tastes medium sweet and medium bitter. Yeasty, dry finish. Medium body, lively carbonation. Nice and interesting but not impressive.
