This amber-coloured beer has been brewed exclusively for the 2011 Wetherspoon real-ale festival. It has a hoppy, orange aroma and tangy grapefruit flavours, giving a lingering freshness, counterbalanced by a smoothness from the use of pinhead oats.

[Cask at the Monk’s Retreat (JDW), Reading] Light amber with a loose white head and a slight fizz. Some citrus, a little sulphur and a light dirty bitterness. Watery, and yet smooth, almost cloying in the mouth. Overall it’s very bland, but not unpleasant.

Cask-conditoned at the Knights Templar (JDW), Bristol 16/10/2011. Amber with a slight white head. Solid cereal malts, some grassy hops and a touch of the Wadworth’s yeast character. Ok.

Taste Bitter hops..some biscuity malt...woody..minerals...vegetables...not good.
Palate Soft carb.....lingering bitter finish...metallic sourness...doesn’t clean.
Overall Over bitter finish. Another poor JDW Festival beer. The commercial description is a joke.

Cask at the Monks Retreat (JDW), Reading. Golden amber with a thin white head; grainy, wheaty aroma; medium bodied with a grainy flavour; then some warming peppery hops and a long grainy finish. I completely missed any signs of grapefruit or oats.

Cask at The Crosse Keys, JDW, London. Pours clear gold with a foamy, white head. Dought and light honey in the nose. Lightly sweet flavor, some wood and dough. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Mild sugar finish, some more dough and light herbs. OK beer. Nothing too wrong.

Cask @ Sir John Moore, JDW. Spoons Real Ale Festival autumn 2011. Light amber colour, off-white head. Nose is grainy and vegetables. Flavour is grainy, biscuity, vegetables, bit of citrus. Really poorly done.
