Hazy paleish gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and dry and little crisp. Light yeast/brett, trace of lemon. Touch of grainy malt underneath. Light semi dry finish. Inoffensive but not much going on here.

Spiced ale from four grains (barley, oats, corn and wheat) remembering the first World War. Pours a pretty deep golden blonde colour, clear with fierce sparkling but misty with deposit, under a medium thick, off-white head leaving some lacing. Aroma of wheaty sourishness, bread, corn (reminiscent of a standard pale lager), very aromatic and ethereal hints of gin, lime, fresh pineapple, sour cream, dried orange peel, subtle aniseed, coriander seed, soap, young cheese, freshly cut grass, peach and something phenolic. Taste crisp and fruity, sweet peaches and pineapple, crisp lemon peel, sharpish carbonation, minerals, refreshing wheaty sourishness, pale malt sweetness with a slight hint of caramel, corn noticeable, soft mouthfeel (oats?), increasing spiciness towards the finish but remaining subtle enough, vague hints of aniseed and coriander, but I get nothing from the thistle (but then, who knows what a blessed thistle is supposed to taste like?). Grassy and herbal hops give a mellow bitterness, some alcohol also comes up (more than expected from a beer of slightly above average ABV) and warms the throat a bit. In all: subtle thirst-quencher, nothing offensive here, but nothing extraodrinary either. Enjoyable and honest, in any case.

330ml bottle from Chez Marie, Ieper. Pours hazy amber with large off-white head. Pleasant sweet, light vanilla aroma. Taste presents a nice, sweet blonde taste with some spice, yeast and floral moments. Bit over-carbonated but still quite nice.
