Cask at CPK, Pimlico on 13th June 2025. Clear coppery amber with shallow, yellowy white foam and partial lacing. Aroma of plums. Plum fruits in-mouth with maltiness, and a finish of fresh stone fruits. Medium bodied with a zingy mouthfeel.

Cask at Victoria, Derby. Pours “bitter brown” with a medium sized foamy off-white head and excellent lacing. The aroma is mainly malts with a hint of oranges. In the mouth it is sweet but with some sharpness and bitter undertones. Flavour is a mix of malts and hops plus citrus and mango. Finish is sweet and atngy with a little stickiness. Overall it’s reasonable.

Cask at The Fox, Worplesdon. Floral and fruity aroma, a dog definite sweetness to it. Light brown. Thick creamy off-white head. Sweet and sour, with a malty base. Tinned fruit in syrup, mixed with sharp berries. Sweetness verges on sickly, before a bitterness takes over. On the light side, with a thin body. Average carbonation. The finish gets astringent. Not convinced this was fresh. Didn’t particularly enjoy it. Taste didn’t work for me and no body to it.

On cask at Sheaf View, Heeley - Clear golden body, thin white head. Nose has a bit of caramel malts with some floral notes. Taste is similar, a dry floral base with some maltiness at the back. Nothing outstanding.

Hand-pulled pint by a young lady in the shortest skirts I’ve seen for a long time: Penny Blacks, Birmingham: 30 Aug 2013. Sadly the pulling of the pint was the most exciting bit of the beer: I found it lightweight and bland to be honest. I’ve enjoyed beers from this brewery many times before, this let them down Looked OK, golden and clean with a pure white head. Slightly more malts in the nose and taste: mildly roasted biscuit feel with a semi-citrus hop undertone throughout. Nothing stood out, nothing to upset or test your senses, just a blend for the masses. Disappointed more than anything else, just lacks character and some oomph.

Cask at the Happy Man, Englefield Green, 18/06/13. Clear golden with a thin off white head. Nose is malt, bread dough, citrus, light hops. Tate comprises summer fruits, orange peel, touch of caramel, light biscuit, bread. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation, bitter notes in the finish. An adequate well balanced bitter.
