Cask at The Wellington, Birmingham on one of their quiz nights. Clear gold with small white top. This one had grains, caramel, stone fruits, touch of citrus and some grass. Medium bodied and somewhat pillowy. Quite tasty. Good cask offering.

Cask at Picture House, Stafford. Pours a slightly hazy golden amber with a medium sized foamy almost white head and good lacing. The aroma is dominated by malts, with just a hint of oranges. In the mouth it starts out sweet and creamy with malts to the fore. After a while some hops and a slight bitterness come through, plus traces of biscuit, ginger and caramel. This is entirely reasonable, but a little bland.

A hazed golden ale with a thin creamy lacing off white head. In aroma, sweet fruity biscuit malt with resinous British hops, grapefruit pulp, pleasant. In mouth, a nice caramel malt with light grassy hops, light mineral notes, pleasant. Cask at The Montague Pyke.

Handpull cask at the Kings Head, Leicester. Reddish gold and war with a small foamy beige head. Aroma of distant forest fruit and a hint of fig. Sweet taste, more berry notes, with an astringent bittering hop in the finish. I do love Branscombe Vale but this beer isn't their best.
