The complexity of this limited edition brew comes from the interplay between the roasted nutty undertones of Crystal, Chocolate and Black malts and the sweetness of orange blossom honey. Balance is achieved by the addition of Warrior and Tettnang hops. Ample body and smooth mouth feel enhance drinkabilty.

Bottle, old notes from 2007. Almost black with a medium tan head. Sweet aroma with some coffee, chocolate, yeast and roasted malt. Sweet taste of roasted malt, coffee and with some sourness. Quite bitter finish. Unfortunately quite thin and dull.

12 oz bottle enjoyed at haukur’s tasting on 1 May 2008. Not sure how supplied this one. Pour is brown-black with a huge, fizzy out of control off white head. Aroma of dirty milk with some honey sweetness. Taste is porter-coffee, some milk, slight sweetness near the end. Just OK, overly carbonated for the style.

Bottled (BB 08/2008)
Dark ruby color, nice creamy beige head. Chocolaty, yeasty, a bit yeasty and roasted aroma. Crisp carbonation. Sweetish chocolaty malty, hints of smoke. Certainly smooth, but not really complex. Without knowing, I couldn’t trace honey here. Aftertaste is toasted and dryish.

Bottled (thanks omhper!). Deep amber colour with huge beige fluffy head. Aroma is roasted malts, some nuts and coffee. Flavour is mild honey, roasted malts, some mild hops and coffee. Quite harsh hoppy finish and aftertaste with some really dry ashyness.

Bottle. It looks clear, but the body is dark brown, so it’s a bit hard to tell. Nice, beige head. The aroma starts with dried fruits, and soon there’s some chocolate, sweetness and apples. The flavor has an apple-fruityness too, as well as a little chocolate, dried fruits, sweetness and some hops. Full, rather dry mouthfeel. It’s a nice beer, but it doesn’t stand out in the crowd. Easy to drink, and for those not so fond of honey, nothing to be afraid of, as it hides the honey well, maybe it was more evident when it was just off the bottling line? (080118)

Bottle. Almost black body with a thick creamy beige head. Aroma of malt, honey and prunes. Flavor is much the same as aroma. A bit weak body and not totally balanced.

(Bottle) Dark brown colour, almost black, with huge beige head. Spicy, roasted, slightly fruity nose with honey, liquorice, espresso, caramel and dried fruit. A whiff of smoke maybe. Roasted, slightly smokey taste with dried fruit, liquorice, smoke, dark bitter chocolate and a decent dose of coffeeish bitterness in the finish. Starts sweet with honey notes, turns drier towards the finish. Very tasty and rather spicy. Nice beer.
