Bottled at RBESG ’07. Amber colour, minimal head, clear. Sherryish woody nose with some vanilla. Sweet with clean mouthfeel. Evident and elegant barrel flavour like a less peaty Highland whisky. The malt however is a bit mellow and not firm enough. Still a good interesting beer.

330ml bottle from Sainsburys. Deep copper with a ruby tint and a trace of white head. Aroma of vanilla and oak; buttery toffee flavour with more vanilla; alcohol builds to give a warm finish.

Bottled. Deep copper with a moderate head. Buttery, almost kellerbier-like aroma, with a whiff of vanilla oak. Flavour was of toffee, with lots of alcohol in the finish. Good.

Bottle from Sainsbury. Deep chestnut colour with thin off white head. More toffeeish that the regular version, buttery. Not a huge whisky presence or indeed wood flavour. A lot of greasy melted butter. No huge aroma. Again not impressed. OK, but what is it?

A hazy amber beer with a collapsing brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of whiskey and caramel, and lesser notes of alcohol and smoke. The flavor is also very sweet, which makes it sticky in the mouth. It has notes of whiskey and caramel, as well as hints of smoke. A lovely thick caramelized beer-whiskey.
