The Mc Chouffe is an unfiltered dark beer (such as scotch).

Full of character, Mc CHOUFFE delights lovers of dark beer all over the world. Its distinctive flavour, its dark ruby colour and its fine creamy head make it a unique beer. Mc CHOUFFE is also characterised by its spicy aniseed and liquorice flavours, superbly complemented by full-bodied caramel notes. Despite its robustness, Mc CHOUFFE is surprisingly smooth. It even reveals delicious fruity notes, especially pear, as well as a very slight hint of bitterness at the end of the palate. With its 8% alcohol content, like LA CHOUFFE, Mc CHOUFFE is appreciated with the same lightness as its big blond sister.

Bottiglia. All'olfatto si esprimono sentori di sottobosco. L'olfatto viene stimolato in maniera normale e l'esistenza olfattiva è sufficiente.

This is a fine brown ale, though not particularly remarkable. Drinks much lighter than it looks. Aroma is a subtle caramel, some forest fruits. Taste is sugary sweetness, a bit too sugary for my taste. What makes this brew a bit unremarkable is that the ’regular’ LaChouffe strong blond is better and there are a number of superior brown ales / Dubbels available. Still, a nice beer.

Maybe it’s just me, but the main flavour I get is alcohol. I’ve had plenty of beers stronger than this that were smoother.

Backlog June 2010. Unclear reddish amber body under a big off-white head. Aroma is classic Belgium ale, malt, brown sugar, spicy yeast. Taste is sweet malt, brown sugar, dry fruit, spicy yeast, warming alcohol and moderate bitterness. Balanced in taste and body with sweet, malty aftertaste. Nice and classic.
