22 oz. bottle, pours a dark brown with a reddish tinge and a quickly dissipating small beige head. Aroma is a melange of characteristics of toasted oak, honey, liqueur, toffee, dried fruits (figs come to mind), subtle molasses and chocolate, cinnamon and obvious booze - probably lots more but I can't be fucked to list anything else. Flavour of toffee, leather, dried figs / dates, molasses / chocolate, oak, liqueur, honey, and probably loads more. Finishes only a tad boozy, with honey and liqueur. Palate is thinner than expected (and thinner than the 14, from memory), though this doesn't take anything away from the flavour complexity - perhaps could be a tad more viscous. Well-blended, but it seems almost arbitrary the amounts mixed - I'd have added more stout to make the body fuller. Nonetheless, this was excellent.

Rating #900. First, some commentary before I rate this beauty. I’ve been on the lookout for a standout beer for my 900th rating for over a month now. Nothing at any of my local beer shops seemed milestone-worthy. Then, just last weekend, as I was at #890-something, several popped up. Two that I considered were Lost Abbey’s Deliverance and Jolly Pumpkin’s La Roja. Then yesterday, I learned that the latest Firestone Walker Anniversary beer was finally available over in Spokane. This seemed perfect, as their 14th Anniversary release is still the greatest beer I’ve ever had, and it served as my own 2-year anniversary beer milestone here on Ratebeer. Let’s hope that this year’s is as good if not better. Bomber from Yoke’s in the Spokane Valley. Thanks for picking this up for me Bill! The aroma is reminiscent of a rich and decadent cookie. It’s strong in oaky vanilla, molasses, caramel, dark fruit, raisins; lesser, but still there, are floral and bready notes, no doubt from the hops in the Double Jack. Pours cloudy brown with ruby red highlights; has a medium beige head that collapses into a soapy collar of foam after a few minutes. Taste is sweet and a little tart with very little bitterness. Licorice and warming alcohol come out in the finish. Body is very full, carbonation is soft, mouthfeel is a little syrupy. This is a fine beer, but I prefer the 14. It had more of an imperial stout character. This one is more barleywine. Still, this is really delicious.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with tan head. Nose/taste of caramel, toffee, bready malts, vanilla, dark chocolate and honey liqueur and toasted coconuts. Medium body. Well balanced.
