Bottle shared by Chalumeaux--thanks, TJ! Opaque black with persistent ring of head, no lacing, light viscosity. Aroma is balanced strong base stout and rum. Taste is less balanced, more heavy stout over rum. Smooth texture, soft carbonation, finish as taste. Not earth shattering but solid.

2022 500mL bottle drunk 2/3/23. Clear, dark mahogany with deep garnet highlights. Light tan head sits at cover. Weird spice at first, almost smells like oxidation, but it opens up quickly and you get lots of brown sugar, molasses, rich dark and base malt combinations and no sharp/hot rum. Soft, malty, lightly sticky, great richness with milk chocolate and rich caramel. Great attenuation, with sticky, rich raisin, toffee and such. Rum is light, not hot or sharp with spice and tea-like notes, helping to balance the rich maltiness. Flavorful, balanced, drinkable, not intensely heavy, sugary or syrupy.

On tap at Shelter, sample pours an oily black, ring of beige head, light legs. Definitely rum barrel, some paint thinners, malt, coffee liqueur, licorice. Flavors has caramel, booze, Kahlua, licorice. Full boozy finish. 7 3 7 3 13

Pours mahogany tinged black into a snifter. Mocha head with medium retention recedes to pool surface. Fig, rum and vanilla aromas. Soft with hot buttered rum and fig compote upfront turning to warm molasses and treacle in the lasting finish.

Bottle [from trade with Iggywh] @ home shared with Countbeer. Opaque black color, medium sized brown head that lasts for a decent while and leaves fair to good lacing. Aroma is malts, rum, liquor. Taste malts, rum, liquor, dark malts and some roast. Medium body, oily texture, decent but suitable carbonation. Nice but rum is probably not my thing. A bit too much liquor for me as well.

Flavor is a nice base RIS that Pete brews with the rum barrel showing in a mild lingering spicy hint. Very light notes of sugar. The mouthfeel could be fuller but still.... Top notch and the barrel actually enhanced the stout. It really isn’t easy to have rum enhance a stout, this pulls it off. Nice stuff.
