This was the first beer to come out of our vats, back in 1985, making it the Brouwerij ‘t IJ classic beer. It is a ‘tripel’, the category reserved for the stronger blonde beers crafted in the Belgian tradition, and Zatte more than lives up to expectations. It’s a full-bodied, golden beer with a scent of fresh fruit mingled here and there with a hint of grain. The flavour is slightly sweet, ending with a fine, dry aftertaste. A delicious classic to be enjoyed in all seasons.

I had a pleasant experience with this one at Bonfol. It is a solid Belgian Ale, malty, fruity, wine sugar, belgian yeast, alcool present. 18.12.2017

Pours a very hazy murky orange with a white head. Aroma of fruits, yeast, orange peel, some spices. This is remarkably drinkable tripel and I very much enjoyed it. It has encouraged me to seek out more from this brewery.

Bottle from the Jumbo in Arnhem. Deep gold with a frothy, white head. Coriander, orange peel aroma with a touch of bubblegum. Taste is bitter with some mild acidity. Medium-bodied, moderate carbonation. No sign of the 8%, and there’s only the faintest warmth. Decent.
