This was the first beer to come out of our vats, back in 1985, making it the Brouwerij ‘t IJ classic beer. It is a ‘tripel’, the category reserved for the stronger blonde beers crafted in the Belgian tradition, and Zatte more than lives up to expectations. It’s a full-bodied, golden beer with a scent of fresh fruit mingled here and there with a hint of grain. The flavour is slightly sweet, ending with a fine, dry aftertaste. A delicious classic to be enjoyed in all seasons.

Draught @ the brewpub, Amsterdam. Pours slightly hazy light straw with airy white head. Mild aroma of hops and flowers, with touches of yeast and malt. Bitter, hoppy flavour with grainy and estery notes and floral touches. Bitter and acidic aftertaste. Warming alcohol presence. Not bad.

At TLVCBF,smallish head, clear deepish gold colour, light nuttiness, herbal, yeast and a fruity hint, flavor of nut, vanila, honeycomb, light fruity sweetness, hint of sourness, not too heavy. Nice.

375ml bottle from Taste of the Lowlands. Pours out dark, clear golden, one finger, soft, fluffy head. Aroma is bready, buttery, mild savory characteristics. Taste is buttered sourdough bread, toffee, fruity, white pepper and gentle Belgian yeast. Creamy, smooth, full. Enjoyed this a lot.
