A 100 percent malted lager, “Leinie’s Classic” features Leinenkugel’s own unique blend of two-row and six-row malts and four varieties of hops. A blend of Pale, Caramel, and Munich malts offer a complex flavor, with four different hops (Cluster, Cascade, Mt. Hood, and Hallertau) to balance the malts. Acknowledging their German heritage, Leinenkugel’s brewed Classic Amber in Reinheitsgebot tradition, where the only ingredients permitted are malts, water, hops, and yeast.

12 oz. bottle. Pour shows that they justify the "amber" in the name, pouring a healthier looking body than the usual pale, pale lagers. Just a tinge of amber, with a decent one-finger off-white head. Malty smell over hops, not special, but showing no trace of corn. Taste is of lightly sweet malts with a slight honey roast. Advertised choice of hops is nice, but in practice it does little more than backdrop the malt sweetness. Say it’s the Miller equivalent of Michelob as an all-malt, yet mass-produced beer. You can have the uninitiated taste this next to an adjunct-laden megabrew and they will see the difference.

12oz bottle. Light and thin orange-tan color. Mild sweet brewery aroma. Thin body, with not much going on. There is some crispness I suppose, but nothing that gives any real hop flavor. The malts taste cheap and macro all the way. Cheap, crappy beer.

Bottle. Poured Pale amber with thick frothy white head. moderate lacing Aroma of hop, grass, hay and malt. Malty flavour, with a stale bready edge. Finish slightly off, in a semitallised way. Still, drinkable on a hot day.

Bottle. Pours a copper gold with a small frothy white head. Not much on the nose but caramel malt and raisin. Decent spotty lacing on the glass. Medium mouthfeel with a roasted malt and a nice dry finish. Easy to drink a decent lager from leinenkugel.

Bottle, Kalamazoo. Pale yellow colour, white head. Aroma has some grassy hops, caramel. Flavour of caramel malts and hops.

Flavor: Mostly malty sweetness, taste comes from the hops, but it is almost all malts, very much lager in the taste

Overall Impression: A pretty average, but solid amber lager. You know, it's not bad...but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Bottle from a small upscale liquor store. Poured clear amber with an ok beige head. Aromas of malt and extremely mild citrus. Near medium body with fizzy carbonation. Flavor of caramel and very light citrus. It is dry. It finishes a tad astringent. Rather refreshing. And some definite bitter is coming out.

Liny class amb S4L2F2T408 Smelled slightly inedible when I popped the lid. Fairly soft yellow in the glass with an orange tinge in there. Some observable carbonation. Has a gravely earth taste initially, in a Beaver County kind of way. Hints of strong arm but never really executes. No follow thru on the malt. Medium raw bitter builds thru the session. Lighter amber, with individuality. Comes across with more supplementary alky than the 4.9% listed. Finishes like several amber ales.

Bottle: Clear copper pour with lots of bubbles and a finger of foamy sand colored head. A dry, soapy lager malt smell permeates my nose. Not setting the stage well to warrant finishing the glass. However the first sip is better than expected. A bit of sweet caramel and toffee up front. As the flavor swirls and finished up a bland, grassey, lager malt thing takes over. Shit, for a moment I thought this might work. I can’t overly slam this brew because it really isn’t that bad. Just a bit of a tease, that’s all.

Pour is a clear amber with a average white head. Aroma is mosty sweet malt and not much else. Flavor has again a very sweet malt to it but a touch of hops do come out at the end. Nothing really wrong with it just a bland boring lager.
