The Original Schlenkerla Lentbeer is an unfiltered smokebeer, brewed in accordance with the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516. Bottom-fermenting yeast gives the reddish brown lentbeer a natural cloudiness. Its smoky aroma is already noticeable in the smell, combined with a fine hoppy note. In the drink the fullbodied, highly drinkable lentbeer shows its strong malty flavour, rounded up with the smokey taste and a light bitterness. Due to the nourishing yeast, the Original Schlenkerla Lentbeer has the "Brotzeit already included" (German word for afternoon snack).

Pour is a dark brown with a large white head. Aroma is smoky with plenty of bacon and ham. Flavor is pretty much all smoky bacon and ham. While this is a well done beer it is kind of a one trick pony with the smoke. I admire the effort but this is not really for me.

9-4-8-5-17 Bottle, 11 months before bbd. Pours mahogany, with an enormous off white head. Aroma is is smoked malts with bread, toffee and heather, as well as fruity notes of coffee, tannins and nutty minerals. Full body, with soft to average carbonation. Flavour is smoked malts with grainy notes of syrupy bread, toffee and heather, as well as leather, tannins and fruity minerals. Amazingly balanced and moreish!

Amber, cloudy with a medium off white head. A good smoke aroma and malt sense. Light bitter with a nice malty smoke ending. Love this breew! Hopyard Oslo the midnight concert trip march 2023.

Bottle online from Raynville Superstore. Pours a deep murky caramel brown colour with a huge thick creamy beige head. Very strong smoky ashy aromas. Taste is again mostly smoky with more ash, some bacon, background hints of caramel, chocolate, toasty brown bread and light earthy hops on the ashy finish. Full body, fairly low carbonation and chewy mouthfeel. Great unique beer once again from Schlenkerla.
