The Original Schlenkerla Lentbeer is an unfiltered smokebeer, brewed in accordance with the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516. Bottom-fermenting yeast gives the reddish brown lentbeer a natural cloudiness. Its smoky aroma is already noticeable in the smell, combined with a fine hoppy note. In the drink the fullbodied, highly drinkable lentbeer shows its strong malty flavour, rounded up with the smokey taste and a light bitterness. Due to the nourishing yeast, the Original Schlenkerla Lentbeer has the "Brotzeit already included" (German word for afternoon snack).

Superficial tasting at company beer tasting. 2023 edition. Amber body under a huge, foamy head. Nice smoked aroma with malt, smoked meat, caramel and some dry fruit. Taste like aroma, quite sweet and very smooth. Moderate smoke flavor compared with some other brews from Aecht Schlenkerla. Nice and food friendly.

A reddish copper ale with a thick frothy lacing mocha head. In aroma, caramel malt with light peated notes, light bacon, light cereals, pleasant and smooth. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity caramel malt with light peated notes, light cereals, pleasant and smooth. On tap at Clandestin.

Draft at Waterfront Manhattan. Pours a cloudy brown with medium head. That classic Schlenkerla smoky aroma. Taste is same with malts. Good.

Good, stable, off-white head over deep copper, clear beer. The smoke comes a mile out upon opening. Nuts, smoked wood, oak, wheat-like. Rauchmalz, smoked wood, sweet restsugars. Very faint acidity, and of course very malty. Finish has some cigarette ashes. Full bodied, good carbonation, feels stronger than it is. Nice, classic.

Das berühmte Aecht Schlenkerla "Fastenbier" (Jahrgang 2025)" gibt es heuer auch beim bewährten Grabsch in Berlin-Lichterfelde. Aus der Flasche finde ich die Schlenkerla-Biere allerdings längst nicht so überzeugend wie vor Ort im bayerischen Anstich, und das gilt auch für das Fastenbier, das mir als Flaschenware härter und bitterer erscheint. Bleibt alsi nur dem Grabsch einen überfälligen Dank abzustatten. (27.3.2025.)

Bottle. Very dark brown with amber highlights when held upto the light. Large tan head and nice lace. Aroma is very smoky, almost a smoked maple ham smell. Taste is sweet smoke up front, slightly bitter in the middle with notes of hoppyness and a slightly sweet finish.
