A warm chestnut brown with red glints and a cream-beige head. The abbey yeast in combination with the rye, wheat, and roasted malts generates a complex bouquet of dark dried fruits: plums, dates, rum raisins, and a hint of hazelnut. The drink is dry and elegant and leaves behind a wine-like impression. The alcohol content of 8.5 VOL% is pleasurably integrated.

Finom.

Bottle@jens - Dark mahogany brown pour with beige head. Sweet malty aroma and taste with notes of dark dried fruit, brown sugar, some burnt caramel notes, sweet malty finish.

Bottle. Clear amber body with a dense, lacing beige head. Aroma is malt, caramel, nutty and hint of fruit. Flavor is like a quite OK Belgium dubbel, all the flavors seems to be right, but a lack of dept and complexity makes it less successful than the Tripel version (Baltic Ale). Fine body and average aftertaste. Decent and easy drinkable, but not much going on really.

From Amstein, St-Légier, best before 2024, drinking it yesterday, at home, after a full day. For me, it was a nice dubbel, full body, malt, a bit boozy, warm, sweet, touch of toffee, plum, yeasty, normal bitterness, a bit nutty.

0.33 l bottle @ home, a gift from Germany. Pours deep brown with thick, white head. Sweet, fruity-yeasty nose and its taste is mainly the same, with some brown/burnt sugar. Short sweetish finish, slight overcarbonation and too light body. Heavier body and stronger flavours wouldnt hurt, but not too bad nevertheless.
