A warm chestnut brown with red glints and a cream-beige head. The abbey yeast in combination with the rye, wheat, and roasted malts generates a complex bouquet of dark dried fruits: plums, dates, rum raisins, and a hint of hazelnut. The drink is dry and elegant and leaves behind a wine-like impression. The alcohol content of 8.5 VOL% is pleasurably integrated.

Bottle. Pours hazy brown with airy light beige head. Clear aroma of malt, caramel and fruit, with some estery notes. Sweetish, fruity and malty flavour with notes of caramel and touches of yeast. Hints of hops. Fruity and estery aftertaste. Warming alcohol presence. Okay for a non-Belgian specimen of this style but nothing really impressive.

Bottle, 8.5% as Insel-Brauerei Baltic Dubbel. Fruity aroma, brown sugar. Cloudy brown colour. Small off-white head. The flavour starts off fruity with an unexpected vanilla aroma. There is a touch of metal, but it comes and goes, so perhaps not a flaw. Quite dry, could have used a little residual sugar. Surprisingly watery finish.

Lettdrikkelig, men heller uinteressant.

Shared bottle in Lofthus with JMD, OGJ and KH 06.05.16. Brown. Beige and persistent dense head and lacing. Sweet aroma, with dark malt and coffee. Bitter malt in taste, with syrup sweetness. Not great.

Kurzer Nachhall. Netter Beginn, danach aber schnell abnehmend. 10/8/8/7/9/8

Bottle, shared at a beer tasting @ Beer Temple - thanks Peter for providing these beers. Hazy dark brown color. Thin, dense beige head. Aroma’s: malty sweet, light vegetables. Retronasal it’s herbal, sweet, something weird. Flavor is moderate sweet, some fruity sourness (red fruit). Body is a bit thin for the ABV. Finishes with a bit of a weird flavor. Not so nice.

0,33 l bottle. Pours out black, one finger light tanned head. Like belgian yeast with sweetness on the nose. Tastes the same, some dark berriefruits, malt and discreet bitterness. A little bit alcoholic. Neatly.
