Een stevige Barley Wine van brouwerij De Molen. Dit bier leent zich voor rijping op wijnvaten. De vorige versie heeft op Bordeaux vaten gelegen, maar ditmaal is er gekozen voor de Spaanse Rioja.

Bottle at home. Aroma is shitloads of dried fruits, apricots, prunes, oak, malt, caramel, sugary notes, ripe orange, slight touch of red wine. Flavour is sweet, a bit sticky. Body is full. Very nice, the barrel aging has added a healthy touch of oak and a hint of wine to the base beer.

Аромат к сожалению не очень приятен.Слишком пряный и концентрированный. Вкус очень многогранен и сложен. Пиво очень пряное на вкус. Также очень сильно чувствуется солод и особый привкус карамели. В послевкусие появляется нотка кофе.

330ml bottle from somewhere in the Netherlands and aged for a few years in my beer fridge in KL. Poured a hazy medium reddish brown colour with a mostly lasting frothy off-white head. The aroma is big vinous and oaky notes. The flavour is moderate sweet, with a rich, dry, earthy, mineral, spicy oak tannins, vinous palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation, although there was plenty of escaping gasses when the bottle was opened. Six years of age has done this beer no harm and it’s certainly taken on the characteristics of the wine.

(Bottle) Hazy brown colour with brief, beige head. Malty, vinous nose with caramel, dried fruit, figs, dates, prunes, brown sugar, wood, and red fruit. Malty, fruity taste with notes of caramel, dried fruit, prunes, figs, dark bread, oak wood, a touch of red wine and a vinous finish with a mild spicy bitterness. Full body, quite sweet. Warming and tasty, the wine barrel character stays in the background, but shines through a little. Great beer!

Flavour is moderate sweet and light bitter with a hint of fruity sour. Medium bodied. Soft carbonation. Long finish, vinous and light bitter.

(Bottle , 0.33 l - bottled on 03.09.2015, thanks VastActiv, at Arde, 20200606) The beer poured brown and cloudy. Its head was small and white. Aroma had, wood and vineousness. Palate was medium bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were vineousness, wood, ripe fruits, toffee and bitterness. Aftertaste was woody and bitter. A mess.

330ml bottle. Sweet, sticky and stuffy with loads of vinous berries, toffee, caramel and ripe fruits, booze and oak. A bit messy and unbalanced.
