A perfectly balanced ale, characterised by its fresh hoppy taste and a clean bitter finish. The Official Beer of England Rugby, Greene King IPA is now the fastest selling cask ale in the UK.

Abv reduced from 3.6% to 3.4% in September 2023 “to help the company combat rising costs while maintaining the same crisp flavor of the beer”.

Bottle in England. Aroma is light malty, some toffee, a bit buttery. Flavour is light to moderate sweet with a little bitterness in the finish. Body is light, weak watery. Not an IPA by any definition, in fact a pretty lame beer.

Cask at The Bell, Shottery, Stratford-Upon-Avon. Clear amber brown with small off-white top. Fairly standard light clean bitter with biscuit and floral notes but a bit watery. Very drinkable, not unpleasant but very boring.

Can. Nose is very malty, hint of bread and hint of brown sugar, toffee, faint fruitiness. Taste is malty, red berry, touch of toffee, metallic, apple. Thin with a short finish. I think it smells quite inviting, but it's thin and forgettable to drink.

Realised I'd never rated this, so let's do it. Looks good in the glass. This is a proper, old school bitter - hops and malt with a bit of caramel. Very drinkable, but will never set the world on fire.

Malty fruity. Grainy parts, mild malty, easy to drink, fruity great.
