Think Bavarian smoked ham and smooth toffee and you’ve got Smoke Bomb. A smoked dark beer.

33cl bottle. BB 11/13. Near black in color, beige, thick head. Lovely smoked ham and bacon aroma with some light hops as well. Flavor is the same with ham, bacon and smoke. Quite ashy, dry finish with some fruity hops lingering in the back. Light to medium bodied. Good drinkability. Love smoked beers, and this one goes quite high on the list, despite being a little thin.

Bottle from Bier Huis, Ossett. Looks good, and should you be planning on eating chicken, cooked with chorizo, peppers and smoked paprika, then this is absolutely the drink to go with it!

Craft Clerkenwell. Cask. Clear dark amber beer, tidy pale cream coloured head. Light semi dry palate. Mild thin malt, mellow smoke - not at all acrid. Nice tangy fruits on the back end, both dried fruits and generic fruits. Finishes dry with a little bitterness kicking in.

Cask at CBC Clerkenwell - London. Pours clearish brown with a light, beige foam head. Lots of smoked malts in the nose, some burnt ham. Light sweet flavor, some dirt, light baking cocoa, further burnt ham, some dry smoke. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Light sweet finish, bitter earth and cocoa, more dry smoke, moss. Decent.

Keg at Lyric, Soho. It pours deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is smoke, ham, caramel, dark fruit and wood. The taste is earth, toast, smoke, high bitterness, wood, resin and some astringency with a damn bitter finish. Light-medium body and moderate carbonation. Perhaps lacking in a bit of body, bit pretty nice. I think this style suits being on keg. Decent.
