Izvrsno!

Tap at Fakin. High bitterness, moderate sweet caramel maltiness. Loads of resiny zesty citrusy hops flavours. Long bitter finish. Too much caramel for my liking, also alcohol comes through lightly. Otherwise good one.

Pre-release at Čomo’s bachelor’s party. On tap. Thanks and all the best! Hazy golden, lasting small to medium off white head. Medium to heavily hopped, herbal, grassy, lightly fruity, fresh hops, some malts and dry fruit aromas. Light dry, lots of body, medium carbonation, light finish. Good with just a bit too much body that covers the hoppiness.

Bottle, 0.5l. Hazy deep copper pour with one finger white head. Regular retention, good lacing. Really nice on the nose, strong hop character, herbal, a bit grassy. Medium body with average carbonation. Smooth on the tongue, nice and thick. Pleasantly bitter taste, nicely balanced for pretty good drinkability. Yeah, this one goes down very smooth. I like the lack of sweetness found in some other imperial IPAs. Aroma is mostly hops, earthy, citrus. Touch of pine. Grassy. Faint honey notes. Slight alcohol presence in the aftertaste, otherwise pretty smooth for this ABV. Slightly sticky. Mouthfeel is mostly dry, followed by equally dry finish with lingering bitterness and slight alcohol burn. Overall, pretty good beer. So far the best 5th element effort. Smooth and tasty.

Thanks Krešo & Tomo for sending some my way. Krešo Marić, Daruvar’s brewmaster, is one of the most positive forces on the market, being a part of the homebrewing and later craft scene as the only professional exception to the rule. He finally got to brew a beer he wanted to to celebrate both his 50th birthday and 25 years of working in the brewery. And we got this, a double IPA. Pours a lovely, just slightly hazy darker amber body with a lasting medium beige head. The aroma shows fresh hoppiness, tangerine, herbal notes, cookie dough, some light caramel too underneath, mixing at times to create an effect like jaffa cakes (or the old Eldorado chocolate bars Kraš used to make (nevar forget!)). While not blasting away, it’s indeed balanced, complex and pleasant. The taste is remarkably light, and the alcohol unbelievably well hidden. The bitterness is well covered though (would have never guessed 75), and there is a light salty touch. The aromatics are still there, citrus, orange/jaffa cake, herbal touches bordering on dank, but soft and thoroughly integrated into the body. I’ve never tried an I2PA this drinkable. Hats off Krešo, hats off.
