For a Belgium beer, it's below average for sure. The bitterness feels off to me. But still decent overall. BierCab Barcelona. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Belgian blonde ale as interpreted by Naparbier - with a macabre label I’d rather associate with other styles than a blonde, but anyway. Bubbly but well-structured and regularly shaped, off-white head breaking quickly and eventually disappearing except for a string of small bubbles around the edge, pale yellow blonde robe with greenish hue, vividly sparkling, as good as clear but with a fine haze of minuscule yeast dots divided throughout; becomes a bit more ochre-hued and misty with yeast sediment added. Aroma of candied banana and even ’Belgian’ bubblegum (isoamylacetate), lemon zest, limoncello, raw rhubarb, slight orange, green apple (acetaldehyde, in other words) but sweet red apple as well, honey, pineapple, freshly grated ginger, sweetbread, white pepper, chamomile, soap, dry cookies, yellow grapefruit peel. Fruity onset with banana effect of isoamylacetate accompanied by a soft gooseberry- and green kiwi-like sourishness, hints of pineapple, mandarin and yellow plum, lively carbonation, minerally and spritzy fitting in quite well but still numbing the tongue a bit initially; slick, light body, honeyish and somewhat grainy malt sweetishness, while spicy yeasty hints develop and the fruity esters linger. Gradually increasing (noble) hop character towards the finish, ending in a peppery bitterness extending over a pretty long distance (at least for the style) but allowing fruity esters and malt sweetness to pass through, while at the same time yielding delicate sweet floral (chamomile) aromas retronasally. Far from my favorite style - probably because I had a few dozens too many already - with the ubiquitous banana ester probably being a tad too pronounced, even though many Belgian blondes which are actually made in Belgium, have this feature, which you either love or hate, to an even greater extent and the earthy ’European’ hop bitterness does make up for it in drying the finish to a certain extent. Certainly not bad, in fact a lot of blonde ales in Belgium could learn from its explicit hop bitter tail, which is often all but vestigial in other Belgian blondes - making them unpleasantly sweet and one-sided. Above average for a style defined by averageness, let’s say.

Bottle @ LIBF’16. Shared with the RB Belgian team.
