Thick oily black body with a small beige head. Powerful nice aroma. Chocolate, oak, vanilla and a bit fruity. Oh yeah I can sip on this all evening. What a lovely brew. Nice balance. Chocolate, bourbon, oak, vanilla and mild fruity flavor. More please. Dangerously well masked alcohol. White wax.

Bottle. (thanks SirLimpsalot) Black with a minimal head. Aroma and taste of bourbon, wood, dried fruit, coffee and dark chocolate. The mouthfeel was smooth and the beer was nicely balanced.

Bottle 660ml @Beer Hunters. Vintage 2012. White wax. Opaque black, small off-white head. Roasted, dark fruits, bourbon. Medium-bodied. Toasted, warming alcohol, sweetish vanilla and toffee. More roast and alcohol in the aftertaste. Excellent.

Bomber shared by Marcus. Pours black with a transient beige head. Aroma is lots of bourbon and a little alcohol. Chocolate! Full bodied. Lots of chocolate and bourbon. Hints of brown sugar. Very mild oak astringency. And it’s very, very smooth and tasty.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of bourbon and rich black chocolates is harsher than ion the 12 year version. Taste is also dominated rich black chocolate notes with some medium rye whiskey notes with rounds off the rough or bitter edge of the base stout but some of the harsher notes don’t really comes out clean. Body is full with nice oily and creamy texture with good carbonation with alcohol not that apparent in this version. I preferred the 12 year old Elijah version to this one base on overall taste being not as smooth as the other version.

This is the 2011 Bottling. Interesting 2011 is an 18/20 blend and the 2012 is full 20 years. Should have done these side by side but oh well.
A - Pours pitch black. Not thick but certainly very dark in the glass. a tiny nitro looking head forms and fades fast.
S - Lots of raisin, fig, and chocolate notes. Sadly a bit of soy sauce as well.
T - Taste is nice. Still yes, lots of soy sauce but there’s a nice hot chocolate with marshmallow taste, dark fruits, nice vanilla presence and a whole ton of oak just oaky from start to finish. I get a minor coconut as well.
M - Oily and thin.
O - Not a bad beer. Probably should have opened this up a year ago. Still very good.

Awesome bottle. 2011 edition. Pours a jet black color with a small beige head. A wonderful nose of vanilla, massive mellow bourbon, toffee. huge. The flavor is super easy to drink, mellow, oak, vanilla, burnt caramel, dark fruit, light heat. My rating doesn’t convey how damn good that barrel is. Awesome beer. Top notch BA stout.
