Farmstead® Wheat Ale

Florence (1915-1967) was our grandfather’s sister, and Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to her and her 13 siblings. In her honor, this Belgian inspired wheat Farmstead® ale is crafted from American malted barley, organic Vermont wheat, European and American hops, our distinctive farmhouse yeast and water from our well. It is unfiltered and naturally carbonated. Soft, cloudy, and fresh, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Florence.

Poured from 750mL bottle (bottled 2022/12/21). Clear blonde with small white head. Mild funk, touch of lemon, full aroma, but taste is slightly muted. Okay.

750 mL bottle poured to myself, because this is an ideal summer weather brew, and I sampled a few years back and know exactly what I'm getting into here. Cloudy pale golden pour. Quick fading head. Nice tart nose, some apricot like notes, and Belgian indicator. Sharp flavor up front tart orange fruit over soft floral, moderate wheat, Belgian yeast, and dry oak. Dry, tart, and complex throughout, but this is so refreshing. Lingering lemon, apricot, oak, and floral character. Excellent brew, and worth the cross country mark up.

Draught@CBC2016. Hazy yellow colour, not much head. Aroma is fruity, floral, wooden and mildly wheaty notes. Flavour is wheat, citrus, some wood and mild herbs. Nicely dry and tart finish.

On tap at Mikkeller Stockholm. (vintage 2019) Light yellow with a small head. A bit tart with lemon, funk, mild spices, yeast and some floral notes, also some hints of wood.

Bottle thanks to Virby44. Aroma: lemon, papaya. Funky. Tart taste finishing sour. Yeasty. Medium bodied. Prickly carbonation. Not bad, but too monotone sour for my taste.
