Tap @ CBC 2015. Pours pitch black with a medium mocha head. Aromas of dark fruits, vanilla, light roast, milk chocolate, malt. My ratings says it had some grapey sweetness to it. Now, I was pretty drunk when I had it, but I was goddamn sure and tasted somewhat like green grapes and I still remember it like that. Haha. Dont know what was going on. Anyway. Taste was vanilla, dark fruits, light cinnamon, coconut, dark chocolate, light roast, savory, licorice, malt.

Bomber poured into a tulip glass, very dark brown opaque with tan head. Nose is bourbon and figs. Tastes of chocolate and dark fruits, finishes boozy and malty. Not that complex compared to some impys, but very tasty.

Super deep, dark brown and almost black coloured body with a slick, oily head and a deep dark brown head, about two centimetres tall with a microfoamed head. Aroma of dark, roasted malts, oatmeal, earth and a ton of pitted and deep fruits like plums, prunes, grapes and raisins along with a deep earthy bite and pungency from the alcohol and a dry oaky scent throughout. Medium to Full-bodied; Super strong roasty flavours abound with oats, grain, alcohol, prunes, plums and more roasty flavours and caramelised bitterness throughout with a deep pungency and very dry flavour with the caramel and oat notes coming out the strongest with some chocolate and a good deal of coffee noticeable as well. Aftertaste shows a lot of grain, some dry notes, but this is all about the chocolate, coffee and especially the residual sugars, which leave a great complexity and pungency near the end. Overall,a great deep pungent stout with a lot of dry flavours, a ton of complexities originating from the sugars and malts, but also a nice chocolate and even coffee finish. Great to sample and well worth trying to find, if you can still nab one from somewhere! I sampled this corked and caged 75 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods on Eye (I) Street in Foggy Bottom, Washington on 23-June-2015 for US$19,99 sampled at home in Manassas, Virginia on my birthday, 30-June-2017, a bit more than two years after purchasing this one.

Tap at Harry's Hofbrau in Redwood City. Not amazing for this brewer or an imperial. A little think and lacking full flavor.

Bottle, 2015 vintage cellared for about a year. Deep dark brown pour with a thin brown head. Aroma is rich with bourbon barrel notes, light roast, and some char. Swirling notes and layers of flavor... complex. Good woody bourbon barrel notes along with espresso and dark chocolate. Some vanilla too. Ends with a bit of char to compliment the sweet boozy barrel treatment.

On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2014. This is a deep and dark brown looking one, only a small filmy but lacing beige head. I get a immediate wood-up thing blended with all the roastiness. Green strawberry sourness in a way? Strange but nice. Hints of vanilla also, and perhaps some dark wood in the back. Traces of cocoa and chocolate. Tastes quite nice. It has that slight wood acidity on the taste also, not to disturbing, but it is somewhat mouth drying and almost a bit astringent at the beginning. Lots of strong and powerful flavors. Sharp alcohol is present. As is dark bitter chocolate but it's not heavy or to thick in the mouth. It's undoubtedly a good one. 02.05.2014
