Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. Aroma is dark malt with smoke, caramel, roast, ash, chocolate, chalk, hint of coffee. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet with a fairly roasty bitter finish. Body is medium. Nicely smokey and chalky, pretty bitter, modest body.

(Draught at Walhalla Brewery Tap, Amsterdam, 7 May 2022) Black colour with lasting, creamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dark chocolate, smoke, coffee and peat. Malty, roasted taste with notes of black coffee, dark chocolate, smoke, black bread, liquorice and a balanced roasty bitterness. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Really rich and tasty, with a generous smoke character, well integrated. Very nice.

33cl Fles van Bierwinkel Alkmaar. Zwart, grote beige kraag. Volle body. Wederom een goeie RIS van Walhalla.

0.33 l bottle from 'Sterk Avondverkoop', bottled in February 2019, cellared for a year. Pitch black with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, light brown head. Sweetish-malty, slightly smoky and gently roasty aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice and some bacon. Gently sweet, malty, rather roasty-bitter, slightly smoky taste of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, some hazelnut and a touch of bacon, followed by a medium long, fairly roasty-bitter, slightly smoky finish. Full body, smooth and creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Really good Imperial Stout, fairly intense with a subtle smoky touch and super thick.
