hazy orange to bright orange colour, moderate sized off-white head; aroma of acetone, balsamic acid, wood barrel, wine cellar, some tannine notes, citruses and hints of peach; taste has the same notes with less dominance of souris-acetic notes and more intensive bittery tannine, as well as some maltyness; peppery-spicy alcoholic aftertaste; well, its aroma is definitely more like a gueuze than a tripel and I have also some concerns re its taste whether it is a tripel or not (though the taste is obviously not gueuze-like); anyway, whatever it is, it's really-really enjoyable!

Bottle. A- Funky, catty, oak, white wine. A- Gold color, clear liquid, white head. T- Funky, white pepper, tart, oak. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, funky finish. O- Either this one wasn't overkill with brett or I've become used to what Anchorage can throw at you. Pretty refreshing and tasty. An odd aftertaste that I couldn't quite place.

750 mL bottle poured. Batch #4. July, 2014. Finally pulling this one out. Quite an incredible tripel here, though it is nearly unrecognizable for the style with all the treatment. Cloudy, golden orange pour. Brett dominated aroma, with an orange fruit afterthought. Flavor is white whine, underneath a citrus and oak. A bit dry late, but not to the point where it bothers me. This was surprisingly good. Would love to compare my notes to a fresh batch soon. Amazing beer, that I really couldn't get enough of.

Batch 4, 750mL bottled July 2014, shared by TJ on 5/28/17, thanks! My first Anchorage beer (not counting the two Grassroots saisons)! Never seem to buy them at the store, given they’re usually very old and quite pricey.
Bright, almost canary yellow with a medium-sized white head that recedes quickly to ring. Good clarity leaving the sediment behind.
Plentiful yellow fruit rise up, with prominent nectarine skin, followed by light honey-filled malts and finally a big dose of chardonnay-like barrel character. Surprisingly very intense still, for three years old. Seems quite "sweet" based on the nose; big malts and oak really stick to the nose. It’s clean, however, and the light-to-moderate, lime-like Brett is playful and helps brighten things. Alcohol is well-concealed, no doubt buried underneath all of this malt and oak/wine.
An interesting sweet/sour juxtaposition, though not the usual bacterial-induced sourness (and not really all that sour), but rather tart, acidic Chardonnay notes that play off of the rich, honey and vanilla-filled malts. Clean and with a low-to-moderate, tight carbonation. In the end, it’s just a bit unrelenting on the barrel character. The interplay of rich malt and rich Chardonnay underscored by huge tannin and toasted oak is interesting at first but gets fatiguing and monotonous rather quickly.

750 ml bottle thanks to TJ. Batch 4, 2014. Almost clear color, Aroma was of Belgian yeast, Brett, and a ton of oak. Flavor was light bretty dusty character, massive oak, mild Lemonaide. It turns into a funky oak and lingers. The balance of yeast and oak is nice.

Poured from a 750 ml batch #1 bottle. Aroma has some light malt and honey notes with hints of caramel. A light breadiness. Moderately strong fruit notes with stone fruit, pear, hints of tropical fruit, citrus and bananas. Medium light phenolic notes with pink peppercorn, lemongrass and coriander. Light oak notes. Pours a slightly hazy, bright gold with a medium large, thick, frothy white head that recedes steadily to the edges where a film lingers for quite some time. No lacing and moderately long legs. Overall, a decent beer but not particularly impressive. Everything was a bit muted (likely due to age).
