By using caramel malts we achieved a golden coloured beer which thanks to its American hops, including El Dorado, and utilising Californian fermentation principles, has a full flavour and a fresh citrus and flowery aroma. Just as the first gold diggers caught the gold fever, one glass of California Gold will have you coming back for more.

Bottle. Deep golden color. Floral citric hops, marmelade and ginger in the aroma. Firm hopbitter flavor with grassy herbal notes and marmelade. Lasting finish. Honeyish.

Bottle shared with Zlotta and Koelschtrinker.

Geringe Herbe, eher monoton. Süffig, trocken getreidig zum Ende. Noch verbesserungswürdig. 7/10/8/9/8/9

Sampled from 0.33 l bottle from ’Speciaalbierpakket.nl’, best before May 2018. Hazy, golden amber with a large, fluffy, white head. Sweetish, slightly fruity-grassy aroma of lemon, straw and some caramel. Sweetish-malty, slightly grassy taste of grains, straw, caramel and some citrus, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly grassy finish. Thin to medium body, very effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Okay!

330 ml. bottle sampled. BBF 08/2016. Light hazy amber, burned sugar, off-white head that quickly fizzes away. Nose is hugely weird, hugely sweet generic sweet cornflakes, agave, cheapest honey possible, plastic melon, massive odd sweetness that is very hard to pinpoint but similar to how something akin to corn syrup (how I imagine it) or some additive like that. Taste is this massive cheap honey, plastic, burned sugar, cornflakes, corn syrup, white sugar, agave, industrial caramel,… Hugely sweet, cloying in a weir very cheap plastic honey kind of way. Very strange, not sure what they put in here or what they did with this one. Cloying & artificial like in the strangest of fashions, a bit how a pale lager with added corn syrup tastes like in my imagination. A touch off-putting in the strangest of fashion, partially drinkable but only for a brief while.
