(On tap @ Salt Horse, Edinburgh, June 24/19) Heavily roasted and burnt grain at the base, lots of char and bitter chocolate, smoky peat, charuterie, iodine, some sweet dark fruit and caramel fudge in there too for balance, anise and umami later in the sip, woody structure, mid-sweet up front gives way to quite dry and above moderately bitter in the finish but with light spirit warmth. Medium bodied, slightly creamy carbonation. Solid whisky BA stout if a little rough in spots.

330ml bottle. Pours jet black with a medium head. Aroma is meaty, woody whisky. Taste has meaty cola to start and a smoky woody finish.

Bottle from the brewery shared with my bro. It pours opaque black with a thick tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, charred, bitter - sweet, rocky road, marshmallow, cherry jam, smoked action, islay whisky, slightly medicinal, black forest gateaux and tobacco. The taste is bitter - sweet, burnt toast, roasted malt, rocky road, toasted marshmallow, cherry, jammy, bramble, umami, spice, alcohol kick, coffee grounds, ashy and burnt toast with a charry and warming finish. Medium to full body and fine, foamy carbonation. Flavourful for sure. Works well for a whisky lover.

Draft. A black beer with a lazing dark brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, dark chocolate, iodine, and peated malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of iodine, peated smoke, dark chocolate, and roasted malt, leading to dry smokey finish. Over the top.

On tap at Salt Horse. Black colour, beige head. Aroma of loads of peat, earth, liquorice root, dry meat, roast, caramel. Flavour of sweet peat, earthy, liquorice root, roast, caramel, bitter finish, light spicy, leather. Full bodied. Good, potent stuff.

Keg at salthorse. Pours black, nose is huge peat, wood, smoky, roasted, a touch medicinal, taste is sweet toffee, caramel, dry, smoky, peat, chewy, chocolate.
