Originally called "liquid bread," the Dopplebock style guided monks through periods of penitent fasting. Wolfgang has heavenly notes of caramel, dark fruit, and toffee balanced by a subtle hop character. While its revered history evokes and appreciation of austerity and sacrifice, this Dopplebock is a rich luxury - no repentance required.

Flaska från SB drucken på ölföreningens julöl 2013. En ljus relativt stiltypisk dubbelbock. Mycket söta smaker. Sirap, karamell, toffee, torkad frukt. En lätt beska med ett liten läkerol classic touch. Aningen för söt och spritig. Hade mått bra av ett år i källaren.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Clear mahogany with a medium head. A lot of malt both in the aroma and taste. Also toffee, dried fruit, brown sugar and notes of syrup. Almost a full body on this one, the finish was a bit sticky.

Dark brown color with compact beige head. The aroma and the flavor have too much cereals accent; there is some dark caramel and light flavor of roasted malts; some residual sweetness, but minimal; the alcohol feeling is well controlled; just a bit too much roastiness in the end.
A good beer, but unexciting.

Tap at Great Divide, Denver. Poured a clear deep brown colour worn a round off white head. The aroma is rich red berry fruit yeast and alcohol. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with a rich fruity alcohol nutty liqourice palate. A very drinkable and flavour packed beer.

Bottle, 22oz. A dark reddish brown beer with a small, beige head. Caramel, roasted malts and a little hoppyness in the aroma. Full-bodied, lightly warming and with a pleasant level of carbonation. Caramel, roasted notes, bitterness, some grassy, piney hints and some alcohol in the flavor. Lasting finish with roasted malts, dried fruits and a touch of caramel and alcohol. Sure a nice doppelbock, but a tad too alcoholic. 130811
