1UP is characterized by its deep and attractive red color. On the nose there are notes of resin, fruit and wood, including cherry. In the mouth, the powerful base of malt is sensed after a forceful but not intrusive bitterness, giving way to a deep, resinous and earthy flavor, with hints of wood, flowers and cherry. Its sweet finish and its 9% camouflaged make 1UP a beer to enjoy calmly, first cold in its hoppy profile, and then allowing it to evolve with the temperature towards a malt, intense and deep profile.

33cl Bottle from Domadora. Dark ruby amber colour, off-white to beige head. Aroma of resin, tropical fruits, passion fruit, toast, caramel, ripe fruits, light fruity sourness. Flavour is sweet, malty, caramel, passionfruit, resin, earthy, some alcohol, firm hoppy bitter finish. Medium to full bodied. Great American Strong Ale (wouldn’t call this a DIPA myself).

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a cloudy amber with a dense and lacing off-white head. Nose has some caramel but also greasy, oxidized hops. Rich, malty, caramellish body, quite chewy and delicious with some vague, underlying hops. Never any hop aromatics though. As an Imperial Red Ale this should be listed as an American Strong Ale. 110615

Bottle. Aroma lots of caramel, toasty, resiny. Hazy deep ruby colour. Taste high in bitterness, initially balanced by malt but then soaring high. Resiny, zesty, lots of caramel. Lower drinkability. Good.
