Like Hops? You’ll like this fire-hued beer. This is the beer I have always dreamed of making. This is the beer that would come to mind while spending the last two years tearing down walls, hanging sheetrock, moving kegs, power washing the ceilings, arguing with various agencies, and cutting the water main. Without Golden Promise malt, made by family-owned Simpsons Malt, Furious would just be pissed offed. From Scotland, this malt is still produced in the tradition of turning over the barley by hand, resulting in a malt that is unsurpassed in its quality. Golden Promise is also used extensively by premium whisky distilleries such as The Macallan. This malt provides the backbone for the intense hop character. Four American hop varieties are used at a rate of over three pounds per barrel. The result is a rich malt sweetness infused with bright hop flavor and aroma from beginning to end. Oh yeah, it’s about 6% alcohol and around 100 IBUs.

Amber, large beige head. Nice balanced nose of citrus hop/malt. Similar palate. Big bitter citrus profile, good malt backbone. Softly carbonated, great lace with good body

Can, 0.457l. Aroma of mango, peach, pineapple and biscuit. Pours clear brown amber color with large soapy off-white head, good lacing and sparkling appearance. Taste starts with medium sweet caramel and toasted malt, following is herbal, piney, dried fruity and slightly medicinal, mouthfeel is dry, while finish is heavy bitter. Full body, oily texture and average carbonation in palate. Pungent furious hops…

Gott

Jaanuaris kännitud. Magus, mõru, karamell, kuiv, linnaseline, männine. Ok, võiks muidugi värskem olla.

Initially drank right out of the can, but once in the glass, I know my eye thinks this to be a less hazy beer with a slightly darker than pale color. Maybe copper like Nikk says below. Big foaming head. Pine tar nose. I used to think that a fresh pine nose was a good thing, but today it just makes me think it's going to be a big bitter fooken IPA. First taste is a little astringent, I'm surpirized at the immature attitude this has. Yea, it's not as bitter as most IPA but that astringent-phenolic thing makes me think it's not well done. Maybe they were trying for one thing then got another and then renamed it, instead of tossing it? I bet that happens allot when you brew a thousand gallons; you don't want to just toss it, especially if it's a little experimental, hehehehehhh. Anyway, I just wish it had more of an alky content to help me appreciate it a little better. IPA, the man's beer? There, you have it. Anybody got a good cheap civilized pale lager I can use as a chaser? Just asking.

Canned on 23 Jan. Doesn't smell or taste as fresh or good as I remember. Bittersweet, old resin hops. Disappointing.
