(Draught at L'Ermitage Brewery Taproom, Brussels, 18 Oct 2019) Hazy golden yellow colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with notes of orange, passion-fruit, pineapple and pine needles. Fruity, hoppy taste with pineapple, passion-fruit, citrus, pine needles and a balanced citric bitterness. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Lots of fresh hops, tasty and refreshing NEIPA. Nice one.

Flaska från Belgiuminabox. En lätt och frisk NEIPA med fina fruktiga smaker. Vit persika, lichie, söta citroner. Vete och lite kryddiga smaker med ett lätt anslag av resinbeska. Riktigt gott.

Bottle at home from Malt Attacks, Brussels, 23rd November 19. Pours a hazy light orange. Aroma is orange, floral. Taste is orange, pine, resinous, quite dry and a little soapy, there is lots of fruit and a dry bitter finish. Really very well made and and balanced.

33cl bottle de Färm - St Catherine. BB 15/03/2020. Light gusher.

Bottle at home. Hazy orange golden with fluffy almost white head. Orange, mango, juicy hops. There’s some light oats and malts, but mostly hops. Underneath the juice there’s some dank weedy notes with grass and slightly dusty thyme and sage. Medium sweet, under medium bitter. Medium bodied.

Collaboration of Ermitage with Twin Sails in Canada, a juicy IPA, tasted from tap at Ermitage in Anderlecht. Eggshell-white, thick, very frothy, beaten egg-like, foamy head, cloudy yellow blonde with deeper apricot hue. Aroma of unripe green mango, green kiwi, banana peel, dough, raw fennel, granadilla, lime. Very fruity in the mouth yet still crisp due to very lively, even stinging carbonation, clearly too much so for a NEIPA; mango, kiwi and guava notes mingle with a supple, slick, doughy maltiness, evolving into a very aromatically hoppy finish adding only very soft bitterness, but bringing a rainbow of mango, banana, pomelo, lime and lychee hints, lime blossom even, with a light peppery accent in the end as well as minerally notes. Bit overcarbonated, but otherwise a very decent NEIPA in being overwhelmingly fruity whilst refraining its sweetness. Quenching and – for a craft beer geek – ‘easygoing’ as well.
