Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, some chocolate, liquorice, hint of dark fruits. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet with a moderate roasty bitter finish. Decent Stout, but not very memorable.

dark brown colour, moderate sized creamy beige head; aroma of chocolate, soy sauce, yeast, red wine notes, hints of vanilla and dried fruits; taste of chocolate, dried plum and cherry, dry red wine, grape notes, some syrupy sweetness, herbal liqueur and yeasty-soy-like notes; as it warms up even some anise can also be felt; not really a typical imperial stout, but still quite enjoyable

Bottle picked up in the Netherlands, consumed at home cooking Taj Anna loving wari gosht (Cinnamon Lamb Curry) and Ambli anna mudh wari murghi (Roasted Tamarind Chicken with Honey and Red Chilli) at home Sunday 30th October 2016 Pours black (almost) with a very, very fine sediment in suspension, within a rapidly departing light beige head. A touch boozy, chocolate, caramel and a bit of coffee jostling for prominence. I find this a bit below par, just not getting excited at all. A6 A3 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Impy with yellowish head and practically black colour. Strong aroma of coffee powder, bitter chocolate, brambleberries, black pepper, liquorice, dates. Red berries and candied fruits in the onset, typical granular mouthfeel, deep and pretty complex dark maltiness, chocolatey and increasingly roasted bitter towards the end. Stereotypical for the style, but if this is a style you like, very enjoyable. Wasn’t this brewed at the ’Proef’brouwerij initially?
