Lightly hazy deep red - amber beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and a little dry. Airy malts, touch of cream. Light floral apple, some pear as well. Mild caramel underneath. Smooth semi dry finish. A bit different and quite drinkable.

Bottle on the IOW Jolly, homeward bound train tasting, thanks to Leighton I think 24/08/14. Hazed chestnut brown with a decent beige covering that quickly dissipates. Nose is toffee, woody notes, light spice, brown bread, musty, faint cocoa. Taste comprises raisens, dates, malty tones, spice, brown bread, fruit loaf, brown sugars. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close. Ok.

Bottle on the IoW Jolly Day return train journey. It pours hazy mahogany brown with a massive beige head. The nose is earthy, wood, leather, twig, spice and caramel. The taste is bitter-sweet, wood, leather, candied peel, earth, caramel, toffee, brown sugar and mild tang with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Not bad.

Bottle - Raisin, plum and dark sugar. Deep brown with a rich beige head. Raisin, candy sugars and a light bitterness that finishes sweet. Not bad.

33cl Bottle at Herberg De Gouden Leeuw, Bronkhorst. ABV 6.5%. I asked for the Scrooge, this is what I got. Said it was the same, unfortunately for them I knew better. But heck, it’s a rate. Murky brown colour, soapy head. Aroma of chocolate, roosvicee, dark fruits. Flavour is sweet, malty, cocoa, chocolate, roosvicee, light bitter malty finish. Light to medium-bodied. Sweet, but nice.

Bottle from a colleague. Had whilst cooking a chilli so my taste buds are a tad hot. Dark brown lasting tan head. Lots of chocolate up front in the flavour. Some fruit little ester mostly chocolate malty flavour. Ok. Bit too much chocolate and a but one dimensional. Fine though
