This beautiful, deep russet brew has the sweet and somewhat nutty character of Adam Avery's late (1992-2002) Chocolate Lab, for which it is named.

Poured from 12oz bottle a very deep brown with a smallish head of foam that dissipated quickly leaving just a very fine layer.
The smell has a nice sweet and roasted malt nose with some chocolate there as well.
The taste is a very tasty sweetish malt up front with just a slight roastiness and a bit of chocolate mid way through. Nice. There's also a slight grainy flavour that shows up in the finish. This is a very solid Brown Ale!
Bottom line: Avery Ellie's is a brew that I can easily recommend as it's one of best of its style that I've tasted to date.

Pours brown from the can with a sand colored head. Aroma is lightly nutty, roasted cereal, sour yogurt. Taste is sweet/sour. The sour takes the upper hand at the finish. Body is somewhat thin, moderate carbonation. Not the best brown ale.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 13B). Bottle 35.5 cl - Batch unknown (BBF unknown - bottled on 11.30.2016). AROMA: medium-low toffee like notes with slight toasty and caramelly notes. APPEARANCE: dark ambar color with ruby color against light. translucent. medium light tanned head with medium-low retention. TASTE: medium-low toasty notes with presence of slight toffee/caramel and some nutiness. light malty sweetness on the background. medium-low to low bitterness with a semi-dry and slight toasty finish. PALATE: medium-light body with medium-low carbonation. OVERALL: a nice brown ale, well within the style.

355ml bottle. Clear, dark mahogany colour with ruby glimmer and small, thick, creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Toasty, nuttily malty aroma, hints of Brazil nut, nougat, milk chocolate, a cautious fruity hoppy touch of red berries. Taste is slightly sweet, toasty, nuttily malty, hints of hazelnut, Brazil nut, a touch of vanilla and red berries. I can see the quality but still not really chum up with the style.
