We like to think this is an ale for everyone who believes you make your own luck. We sure did. And the result is a well-balanced, soulful IPA with just the right amount of hoppiness. An even keeled ale that goes down clean and refreshing, but still lets you know it’s been doted on by the Brewmaster. It’s true to it’s IPA heritage, but also highly drinkable. Lucky U. And we seriously mean that.

Draught from BTiger. Poured darkish orange, hops aroma and taste, a standard IPA not a whole lot to say.

From the drink cart on United Airlines from SFO to ORD. So much of this is an homage to early 1990s east coast IPA. Way over the top on the malt. Cloyingly so. Clear copper-amber with white head the coats the cup the whole way down. Faint citrus hops in the aroma. Taste is disjointed and then has a bitter spike down the middle. I would say it is not good....but it was something new to try on the flight.

12oz can on United flight to Newark.

From old tasting notes. Hazy, yellow gold color. Small white head. Aromatic malty nose hints at caramel and/or toffee. Fresh malt flavor is overcome by an assertive bitter hop prescence. Clean hoppy finish with a lingering bitter aftertaste.

Draft pour at the Field location. Rating from notes. Golden copper pour with an infinite amount of foam head and lacing. Bitter hop aroma and flavor dominant. Very creamy body. Smooth flavor, but overall basic. Plain IPA, but not bad.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 7/15/2015. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy deep orange/copper color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, herbal, floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/pine/earthy hops and moderate dark/bready malt sweetness; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of spicy pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine/earthy hops and moderate dark/bready malt sweetness; with a nice malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/sticky/resinous mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice american IPA. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of citrus/pine/earthy hops and moderate dark/bready malt sweetness; and very smooth and easy to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Draught @ Albion. Clear looking copper red color, almost no head with a ring of whitish froth, no discernible aroma, low carbonation, interesting taste starting with honey-caramel continuing hoppy, quite abrupt bitter finish. Queer for an IPA this one.
