Bottle. Pours clear amber and no foam. Lots of pumpkin puree in the nose, feels surprisingly fresh. Cloves and cinnamon. Taste has pumpkin spices, little bit sweet, like a pumpkin pie. Barrel adds some light coconut and vanilla. Bitter and jammy finish. Good one!

Bottle, thanks Eddan. Amber with a small head. Sweetish with spices, light malt, pumpkin and some brandy. An ok pumpkin beer.

Sample from 2014 vintage at Denver Rare Beer Tasting VIII on 10/07/2016. Hazy dark amber color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily to a film. Patchy lacing. Aroma of brandy, malt and pumpkin spice. Medium body with flavors of brandy barrel, caramel malt, cinnamon and ginger. The finish is sweet with a brandy and pumpkin spice aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

375 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 10/31/2014. Pours lightly hazy deep reddish orange/copper color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, honey, pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, gingerbread, toasted oak, raisin, plum, light coconut/vanilla, herbal, and oak/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, pumpkin, spices, and brandy barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of caramel, brown sugar, honey, pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, gingerbread, toasted oak, raisin, plum, light coconut/vanilla, herbal, and oak/toasted earthiness. Light herbal bitterness/oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, honey, pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, gingerbread, toasted oak, raisin, plum, herbal, and oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, pumpkin, spices, and brandy barrel flavors; with a great malt/spiciness balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light dryness from bitter/spiciness as well. Light carbonation and medium body; with a smooth, fairly creamy/bready, and lightly silky/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with some lightly warming barrel notes; with zero booziness. Overall this is a very nice barrel aged pumpkin ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, pumpkin, spices, and brandy barrel flavors; very smooth and easy to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

375ml Bottle from Sake no Taniguchi. Coronado Collection Barrel-Aged Punk’in Drublic 8% It may be infinitesimally darker than the regular Punk’in Drublic but to my eye is virtually indistinguishable. It’s the same orange-amber-brown. Nice looking. The aroma is oak, brandy & malt(or is that the honey/sugar?) sweetness. I don’t get any of the pumpkin spicing you’d expect but I do get a plum-like character from the brandy. Medium bodied but the carbonation has smooth out somewhat making for a mildly more pleasant mouthfeel. The taste remains boozy but it is complemented by oak, brandy, vanilla. That booziness fits a barrel-aged beer like a glove. After that you get sweetness, fruitiness and just hints of spicing in the finish. The barrel completely overpowered anything really pumpkin like. It’s a beautiful barrel-aged beer, very well balanced barrel character but it is a shame you don’t really get anything pumpkin from it. As a beer I prefer the BA but as a pumpkin beer I prefer the regular Punk’in Drublic. I’d buy the BA again but for a pumpkin beer from Nagano Trading Co., Ltd I’d probably choose the New Belgium Pumpkick next time.

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours a sort of coppery dark amber with a near white head. Aroma is pretty much pie spice. Full bodied or nearly. Flavor: Head explodes. Brandy and pied spice. Some wood astringency. And brandy! It’s really smooth. I think there would be a market for spiced brandy. This is really well done.
