Seaweed Ale
Prior to the 1850's Scottish coastal alehouses brewed with malted barley, grown in fields fertilised by seaweed. This environment gave the barley a very specific flavour which we recreate by the inclusion of fresh seaweed in the mash tun. A rich dark chocolate ale, which has the aroma of a fresh Scottish sea breeze and a distinctive malty texture.

Bottle. This is a good beer! Taste like a good Dunkle or Porter. Nice coffee/chocolate undertones with a good "bite" of bitter that lingers on the tongue. Great stuff.

Williams Bros. Brewing Kelpie. Huge thanks to Erzengel for that one! Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass dark brown, nice head. Starts fine malty, roasty, spicy notes. Somes of some herbs. Bitter-malty background. Finish well balanced, dry-malty, mild bitterness. Nice one!

I wouldn’t identify this as seaweed, but it’s got a nice rich chocolate nose, mild cherry notes and roasty smooth. goes down easy.

Adding in my 300 Beers To Try ticks because I want to see how they impact my stats and some of them I will never see again. Will however re-rate them when practical. AGain this one was better than the whole seaweed element had set my preconceptions.

6th DRG. Salted licorice aroma. Malty sweet flavor with licorice and caramel. The salty bit must probably be the seeweed. Thinnish.
