Commonly known as "Natty Boh". Beloved by Marylanders.

National Bohemian is a premium Bohemian-style beer. As the name implies, this is a method of beer-making that originated in Europe in the 1800’s using Bavarian-style lagering techniques. Also known as Pilsner, this style of beer has the unique claim to being "the world's first golden beer."

Today, Natty Boh is brewed according to the strict traditions that made it the beer of choice. Using only the finest ingredients – sparkling pure water, fine grains, choice hops and our special strain of selected yeast – every batch of Natty Boh is patiently aged resulting in a medium-bodied beer with a smooth color, a distinct hop aroma and a superior taste.

I got 4 cans from the generous RA. Thanks dude!

Best before March 2, 2015 on the bottom of the can.

It pours the crystal clearest of pale gold with what ends up being a fine broken layer of foam.

There’s sweetish malt and grain in the smell with a hit of a bitter note or 2.

The taste is sweetish malt, corn/grain/ with a hint of a bitter note or 2. :^)

Almost at the US defined Session Beer at 4.6%, I’d take this over the few other AALs that linger in the stores around town that include BMC(old name of course) and non BMC.

Wow. I’m in Maryland, not sure when I’ll be back. I went to school in Maryland, and fondly remember buying this by the case to drink with friends almost nightly. I can’t imagine the beer has changed that much, but clearly my palate has. I’m glad to add this to my list for nostalgia’s sake, but I don’t think I’ll reach for a Natty Boh for a long time.

Draft sampled at Federal House, Annapolis. Pours clear pale golden with a white head. Aroma of very light hops and malt. Flavour is just light sweet and bitter, a light maltyness with nothing to it really. It’s not offensive, it can’t be with so little flavour. Light bodied with moderate carbonation.

Had this on tap at GBD (Golden Brown Delicious) in DC. Yes, tap, finally had this for the first time in my life, and you know what? It wasn’t nearly as bad as I expected. Notes of cereal and malts, some adjuncts. Flavor was clean, with light malts, cereal, some adjuncts. Not bad after taste, which I’m surprised about.

Bottle. Corny barley malt and fresh hay aroma. Golden yellow with large head. Lightly sweet corn, barley malt and hay flavor. Slightly better than the average discount pale lager.

Clear gold with a large and quickly disappearing white head. Aroma has light earthy hops and a bit of malt. Flavor is much the same. Not much going on here but slightly less offensive than other Pale Lagers.

Served on draft at Beer Run. On draft! Almost mulligan-worthy J. Almost. But its retro so I’ll give you a pass. Pours a clear very pale yellow color with a large frothy white head. Good head retention. Aroma of corn, grain with a sweet finish. The taste is sweet malts, corn and faint hops. Thin bodied. I wanted to like this, but it is just too sweet.
