On tap at Euclid Hall. Pours dark brown, with a medium, creamy, silky tan head. The aroma is caramel, walnuts, light coffee, and plum. Sweet and malty, with a thin bitterness. Medium body, chalky, syrupy, and a bit thin. This is a pretty nice, malt forward beer.

Pours dark brown, bit of beige foam on the top, more like a skirmish though. Aroma has some roast, little sourness and burnt malts. Taste has more acidity, feels actually quite sour, with this burnt rye bread in the background, together with some - yes again - nail polish. Relatively weak body, roast is strong and lots of chocolate, bitter and not sweet, wheat adding these sour notes. Overall interesting, not sure I want to drink a lot of it though.

Draft pour pint at the Collective. Pours black with a tan cola fizz head. Soft aroma of sweet malts. Chocolate and malt up front. No obvious walnut for me, but I suppose it’s a little nutty late in the palate. Easy drinking and quite tasty.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Dark brown color, almost black, with creamy head. Mild aroma of roasted malts. smooth and dry mouthfeel, mild roasted malt flavor, light minty touch, correct bitterness, dry final, also a bit weak; no walnuts, almost no chocolate malt.
Decent beer, but not responding to expectations, and can’t really see the direction here.

Extremely dark mahogony brown with a thin beige head that dissipates to the edge and leaves light spotting. Nose is dark malt, nutty tones, sugars, dark fruits. Taste comprises dark malts, dark toffee, brown sugar, walnut, biscuit bite. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, sweetish finish. Ok drinkable affair if a little over sweet.
