We love hops – that’s why our flagship Double IPA, Heady Topper, is packed full of them. Heady Topper was designed to showcase the complex flavors and aromas these flowers produce. The Alchemist has been brewing Heady Topper since 2003. This Double IPA is not intended to be the strongest or most bitter DIPA. It is brewed to give you wave after wave of hop flavor without any astringent bitterness. We brew Heady Topper with a proprietary blend of six hops – each imparting its own unique flavor and aroma. Take a big sip of Heady and see what hop flavors you can pick out. Orange? Tropical Fruit? Pink Grapefruit? Pine? Spice? There is just enough malt to give this beer some backbone, but not enough to take the hops away from the center stage.

Poured from a can at MBCC first session. Hazy golden body, bubbly white head, spotty lacing. Fresh tropical fruits on the nose. Mid-sweet citrus flavours, lemon and orange, together with sappy peaches. Citrus peels to the ending. Soft in the mouth. Very nice, a bit heavy to drink though. (Copenhagen 12.05.2017).

Cans from Mikkeller & Friends Bottle Shop. Drunk from the can, poured a little to see it. Slightly hazy yellow with white head. Dry, grassy aroma with loads of citrus, fresh cut grass, hay and zest. Similar highly bitter grassy, citrus taste with lingering fresh bitterness. Superb balance.

Can shared. Bit hazy golden with good sized white head. Dank weedy hops, light cheese, onion, pineapple, mango, light cake, sugary malts, light grass. There’s nice weedy hops and plenty of fruits, but more ’balanced’ than Focal Banger, this has more malt character, even some marzipan. Almost full bodied. Very lovely yummie stuff.
