(Re) Introducing Helios Ale. We’ve rebranded and repackaged the former V-Saison and now introduce Helios Ale. This bottle conditioned, Belgian-inspired ale remains the same refreshing ale that you enjoyed as V-Saison, however, in a more approachable, less expensive 22 oz capped bottle. Helios Ale has an earthy, aromatic hop start and shifts into aspects of lemon peel and black pepper. This is a quenching, invigorating ale, despite its substantial strength.

A number of 22oz bottles upon initial release, 2005. Clear, blonde-hay-golden with a large, expansive, white head showing good retention. Man did they nail this one. The nose is beautifully expressive and developed/aged Brett. Honey-like malt and spicy, floral hops behind it with a light grain-like character on the very end. Not too much acidity from the Brett. Soft, malty, well-attenuated with honey and rustic grain-like malt notes. Again, the Brett is beautiful here, mildly tart, not too floral/perfumey and well-developed. Light minerality, mild phenol and ester from the Sacch. and a clean finish with good acidity and malt. No alcohol or flaw. Just jam-packed with great flavor. No idea if this beer devolved (likely) or is even still made, but this score reflects this snapshot in time when Victory was still great.

Thin fluffy white head left a cover on a hazy, light golden body. Lemon, yeast & coriander aroma Medium to thin bodied, well carbonated & clean on the aft. Bitter, almost sour tastes of lemon, citrus, yeast, spices, herbs & a peppery finish.

(Bottle) Hazy yellow colour with big, frothy, white head. Fruity, malty nose with grass, apricots, white bread, hay, apples and a touch of incense. Fruity, malty taste with notes of white bread, hay, grass, apricots, apples, citrus, lemon, spicy yeast and a gentle spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Tasty and quite spicy. Nice one.

Distance from an older bottle that has been kept chilled . Appearance is a dirty Amber and a nice head of average duration. Aroma is very yeasty, almost Brett like and some caramel malt and wet grain. Flavors like nose, but seems like some oxidation has taken place. Good carbonation in that helps a lot . Still not a bad beer.
