(Re) Introducing Helios Ale. We’ve rebranded and repackaged the former V-Saison and now introduce Helios Ale. This bottle conditioned, Belgian-inspired ale remains the same refreshing ale that you enjoyed as V-Saison, however, in a more approachable, less expensive 22 oz capped bottle. Helios Ale has an earthy, aromatic hop start and shifts into aspects of lemon peel and black pepper. This is a quenching, invigorating ale, despite its substantial strength.

Bottle: Poured a hazy golden color ale with a nice thick foamy head with pretty good retention and some lacing. Aroma of rustic ester and sweet malt is quite enjoyable. Taste is also dominated by notes of rustic and floral malt with some sweet notes which may be a tad too sweet for the style. Body is quite full with good bottle conditioning and good carbonation. Well brewed with nice level of complexity but unfortunately it is a bit too sweet and lack some attenuation.

Bottle @ home. Slightly hazy, golden orange appearance with a white head. Slightly tart, funky, tangy tangerine-orange, slightly spicy aroma. Tart tangerine-lemon-orange citrusy, moderately funky, barnyard, a touch peppery, moderate floral hoppy flavor with a tangy, barnyard finish. For $3.99, this is a fucking steal.

65cl Bottle, thanks Harmen&Kevin! Clear golden colour, white head. Aroma is funky, Brett, fruity, light tart, bit of sour apples. Flavour is bitter, earthy, funky, light tart, liquorice root, fruity, yeast, floral, lemon, funky bitter finish. Has a high Orval-factor imo. Medium bodied. Great beer.

Bottle. Bright gold with a rocky white head. Aroma of oranges, lemon, pepper, coriander seeds. Sweetish with sweet oranges, light bread and berries, quite punchy spices and lemon zest in the dry finish. Lacks a bit of rusticity, but isn’t overly clinical. Good.

Golden with a nice fizzy white head. Nice fruity aroma with a bit a spice and some pep, too. Slightly sweet, a bit of a spicy bite, citrus, pepper, and abit of fruit. Clean and crisp mouth with a drying finish. Was very surprised to see the high abv as it did not come across while drinking it. Good thing I only had one bomber on hand, could have easily sessioned this one but glad I didn’t. Real nice, refreshing beer.

22 oz bottle. Hazy orange yellow. Lots of floating sediment. Very light carbonation. A very pleasant aroma, smells as brewers description. Up front is citrus, middle is spice and yeast and pepper and in the finish reminds me of the white part of an orange peel which leaves a tart taste in your mouth. The one downfall is all the spice. It was nice to try but it’s safe to say, with all the spice I wouldn’t want to drink another glass.

Pours clear medium gold color with white head. Doughy yeast aroma with some light funkiness, lemon and spices. Flavor is doughy and peppery with a little spiciness. Medium body with lively carbonation. Decent.

Nice saison and a great value. Pours a light amber with a dissipating white head. The aroma is a bit simple, but it’s a nice simplicity. It’s a lemony yeastiness with some good hop spice. Not much in the way of funk. The flavor is similar but has a touch of booze. Creamy mouthfeel. Very nice beer and I’m glad that Victory has started distributing it to California.

Cloudy pale gold beer. Light and dry. Very light fruit and spice. Dry frothy finish. Seems a bit bland compared to many Saisons I’ve had. Okay but lacking something.

At a tasting, many thanks David, meduim stable head, a little murky yellow colour, aqroma of pine, lemon and some funky notes of cow droppings and sweat, flavours of shrubs and pine with some flowery notes and a hint of fruit behind it, strong peppery bitterness long and lingering and a bit overwhelming. Quite difficult to drink but extremely intriguing.
